Prepare a Try-On Project

Configure each ring project before you add Try-On to a website. The configuration controls the ring size, position, and rotation on the tracked finger. It also tells Mini Viewer that Try-On is available for the project.

Configurator Try-On release

Configurator Try-On requires Mini Viewer 0.6.18 or later on the customer website.

Before you start

Make sure that the model, Ring Configurator, or Wedding Band Builder project is available in your Drive. The ring must have a clear inner opening. Auto Fit uses this opening to calculate the initial fit.

Use the setup path for your project type:

Project type	Open the setup interface
Standalone ring model	Select the model. Then use Open In → Editor or Open In → Playground.
Ring Configurator	Select the configurator project. Then use Open In → Editor or Open In → Playground.
Wedding Band Builder	Select the Wedding Band project folder. Then select Edit Default Settings.

For a Ring Configurator, the editor fits the ring assembled from the components currently shown. For a Wedding Band Builder, select the ring that you want to use for calibration before you open Try-On settings. One saved fit applies to every ring in that Wedding Band project.

Enable Try-On

1. Open the project with the correct setup path from the table above.
2. Open the Try-On settings.
3. Turn on Enable AR.
4. Select Enter Setup.

Setup mode displays a cylinder inside the ring. The cylinder represents the tracked finger.

Fit the ring to the cylinder

Select Auto Fit first.

Auto Fit finds the inner ring opening and provides an initial position and size. If Auto Fit finds several openings, select it again to inspect the next result.

Use these controls to correct the result:

Control	Use
Model Size	Match the inner ring opening to the cylinder diameter.
Position	Place the center of the ring opening on the cylinder axis.
Rotation	Align the ring band with the cylinder. Point the ring head in the direction of the arrow.
Front, Top, and Side	Inspect the fit from fixed viewpoints.
X 90°, Y 90°, and Z 90°	Correct the model orientation. Use these controls for large corrections.

The cylinder must pass through the center of the ring opening. The band must surround the cylinder evenly. The arrow inside the cylinder shows the correct direction for the ring head.

Check the fit from all three viewpoints. Rotate the model until the ring head points in the direction of the arrow.

Preview and save

1. Select Exit Setup.
2. Select Preview in AR.
3. Give the browser camera access.
4. Check the ring size, position, and direction on your hand.
5. Exit the preview.
6. Correct the setup if the fit is wrong.
7. Save the project to your Drive.

The saved project contains the Try-On configuration. You do not need to download or host a separate configuration file. Mini Viewer receives the project and its configuration through loadModelById.

For a configurator, Mini Viewer sends the ring assembled by the configurator plugin to Try-On. It does not require a separate GLB for the configured ring.

Public file access

The file must be Public in its share settings. loadModelById cannot load a private file from your Drive.

Test the saved project

After you save the project, test its file ID with the Direct Integration example. The Mini Viewer Try-On button appears only when the saved configuration has Try-On enabled. If the old fit appears, save the project again and reload the product page.

Test the customer flow for the project type:

• A Ring Configurator opens the ring that the customer assembled.
• A Wedding Band Builder with one ring opens that ring.
• An unlinked Wedding Band pair opens the selected ring.
• A linked Wedding Band pair asks the customer which ring to try on.

Fix common fitting problems

Problem	Correction
Auto Fit does not find the ring	Make sure that the inner opening is clear. Then adjust the ring manually.
The ring is too large or too small	Correct Model Size.
The ring is not centered	Correct Position from the front, top, and side viewpoints.
The ring head does not point in the direction of the arrow	Correct Rotation. Use a 90-degree change when the model uses another axis.
The configurator opens without a ring model	Wait for its components or generated bands to load before you start setup. A separate model file is not required.
The Try-On button is missing	Turn on Enable AR, save the project, and reload the product page.
