FAQ: Playground & the iJewel Platform
Frequently asked questions about Playground features, projects, settings transfer, and general workflow within the iJewel platform.
Is iJewel Playground a CAD program?
No. Playground is a real-time 3D rendering and visualization editor — not a modeling tool. For a full overview of all iJewel products, watch the iJewel Products Overview video. It's designed for creating/editing materials, optimizing models, setting up lighting and camera angles, and exporting images, videos, or viewer-ready files. You can move and transform objects, and generate simple primitives (sphere, box, torus, etc.), but it's not a replacement for 3D modeling software like Blender, Rhino, or 3ds Max.
Is Playground free to use?
Playground has a Free tier with basic features. Premium (5 library slots) and Advance (100 library slots) tiers unlock additional features like higher export resolutions, more material presets, and advanced post-processing. For commercial use, a subscription-based license is required. See License and Pricing for details.
How do I reopen a project I previously saved on the iJewel platform?
Open Playground from the iJewel platform and load the saved project — it reopens with your model and settings. If your version doesn't list the project directly, download its GLB file and drag it into Playground.
My Playground settings don't transfer when I save a model to the iJewel platform. Why?
When you export a GLB from Playground, some advanced settings (post-processing, certain plugin configurations) may not be preserved in the GLB format. For full settings transfer:
- Export the scene settings as VJSON from the Export tab — this captures all environment, lighting, and plugin settings
- Keep both the GLB model and the VJSON together when saving to the platform
- Alternatively, save directly from Playground if that option is available in your version
How do I save and reuse scene settings across different models?
- Set up your scene the way you want (lighting, environment, shadows, post-processing)
- Go to the Export tab and download the scene preset as a VJSON file
- For a new model, drop the model into Playground first, then drag and drop the VJSON file — it will apply all saved settings
You can also download individual presets (materials only, animations only) using the three dots menu (⋯) above specific UI sections.
My zoom limits reset after saving. How do I fix this?
Zoom limits and camera constraints are stored as part of the camera/viewer settings. When exporting, make sure to include camera settings in your VJSON export. If the issue persists, set the zoom limits again in Playground and save.
Can I save files larger than 50 MB in Playground?
There is a file size limit for saving directly from Playground to the iJewel platform. For larger files:
- Export the GLB to your local computer first (no size limit for local download)
- Compress the file by enabling Draco compression in the export options
- Check texture sizes — large textures are usually the main contributor. Reduce texture resolution in Picking → Physical Material
How does Playground fit into the iJewel platform?
Playground is the 3D editor inside the iJewel platform — it's where you open 3D files and configure materials, lighting, cameras, and export images/videos. The wider platform is where those configured models are managed, hosted, embedded on websites, shared via links, or served through the viewer SDK.
How do I match a camera position from my 3D software to Playground?
Go to the camera settings in Playground (available in the viewer/camera controls) and manually set the Position and Rotation values to match your 3D software. You can also export the camera from your 3D software as part of a GLB file, and it will appear in Scene → Cameras (Loaded).
Can I use Playground with multiple objects and create a configurator?
Yes. Load multiple objects into the scene, then use the Configurator tab to set up material variations for each object. Click on an object, add variations with Add Variation, and configure each one. When exported, the configurator data can be used with the iJewel Viewer SDK to build interactive product configurators on your website.
